Start from the official VA page
The VA provides home-loan information and a way to check a Certificate of Eligibility request. Use those official pages to find the current instructions rather than relying on a saved screenshot or an old article that names a particular login method. Interfaces and instructions can change.
Before you begin, write down what you are trying to establish: whether to request a certificate, how to check a request already made, or whom to contact about information that appears incorrect. Those are separate tasks.
Separate the two sets of questions
Keep a VA question list and a lender question list. This helps avoid interpreting a response about service eligibility as a response about the complete loan application. You can take notes without recording sensitive service information in your calendar or email subject line.
- For the VA: Which official process applies to this request?
- For the lender: What do you need to review, and what remains undecided?
- For either team: Where should I send a document if you specifically request it?
Keep the handoff secure
Record the official page you used, the date, and the next action. Avoid copying identification numbers into a general question sheet. Confirm the recipient and delivery method before sharing service documents. The contact form on this site is for arranging a conversation, not for uploading a certificate or completing a mortgage application.
If two instructions seem inconsistent, ask the relevant team to clarify them before taking another step. Keep the answer with the question so you are not working from an incomplete recollection.
